Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm:
Since his arrival from Venezuela in 1993, pianist Luis Perdomo has emerged as both an in–demand sidemen (for his work with jazz and Latin stars ranging from Ravi Coltrane to Ray Barretto) and a gifted bandleader/composer (for six critically–lauded recordings of his own). Perdomo’s latest release is a solo piano set, following on the previous album 22 recorded with his group Controlling Ear Unit. This auspicious Jazz Standard one–nighter will feature C.E.U. but also include some solo piano offerings by the leader. “This post-bop pianist has made himself an indispensable supporting player, especially in pacesetting bands led by the saxophonists Ravi Coltrane and Miguel Zenón…Mr. Perdomo plays with deep sonority, rhythmic aplomb and an ear for useful dissonance.” (The New York Times)
